Why did you first learn to use a digital device and get online? Did you find it easy, or were there some challenges? Do you like being online now?
COTA and TasCOSS are currently doing some research to find out about the barriers and pathways that people have when learning to use digital devices and getting online, and we would love to hear from people who have already faced the challenges and got through them to be online. Older Tasmanians are some of the most digitally excluded people in Australia, and though COTA will always advocate for offline, face-to-face options to remain, more services and businesses are moving online and it’s becoming increasingly difficult for those offline to stay connected.
If you would like to share your experiences, please click here and complete the anonymous, five to ten-minute survey.
We would also like to hear from people who help older people to learn digital skills about some of the issues they witness first-hand as people take the first steps into the online world. If you would like to take part in a short interview with a COTA staff member, please contact COTA on 6231 3265 or email [email protected].
By taking part in this consultation, you will be helping COTA to better understand how to help others to learn digital skills so no one is left behind. The survey and interviews close Friday 7 December.
