The Plan

COTA Tasmania has concluded the Active Ageing Plan community consultations that took place through the end of 2016 and beginning of 2017. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to both phases of the consultation. We heard from almost 850 people across the State through focus groups, discussions, survey responses, stories, postcards and general feedback.

COTA produced the ‘Active Ageing Plan Strategic Directions Paper – Part A’ and its supporting ‘Background Paper – Part B: Who I am, not how old I am’ using feedback from the consultation. These documents summarise Tasmanian feedback and background research to inform Tasmania’s new Active Ageing Plan.

The Tasmanian Government launched ‘Strong , liveable communities: Tasmania’s Active Ageing Plan 2017-2022’ in May 2017, identifying 19 priority initiatives across health, lifelong learning, participation and security.

‘Strong, Liveable Communities: Tasmania’s Active Ageing Plan 2017-2022 is the Tasmanian Government’s commitment to support people to maintain their health, increase their participation, continue to learn, and feel secure as they age.’

COTA Tasmania is looking forward to continuing its work with the Tasmanian Government to bring this Plan to life and make sure that we can all grow older the way we want, in the place we call home.
