Launceston’s Walk Against Elder Abuse promotes respect for people of all ages and spread the word that information and assistance is available through the Elder Abuse Helpline – 1800 441 169‬.

This year, the walk will be held on 14 June 2019, on the eve of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD).

We gather at 9.45 am for a 10am start at the Tamar Street entrance to City Park, opposite Cameron Street, the same starting point as last year.

The Launceston walk will be led by the Mayor, Alderman Albert van Zetten. We are hoping for an extra big turnout this year, now that media coverage of the inaugural Launceston walk in 2018 has alerted people in the north of the state to this annual call to action

Morning tea provided by the City of Launceston will be available at Launceston Town Hall following the Walk.

If you or anyone you know is experiencing elder abuse, please call the Elder Abuse Helpline on ‪1800 441 169‬.
