The Tasmanian Herbarium is responsible for the development, maintenance and management of Tasmanian botanical collections, with the most comprehensive record of the Tasmanian flora in the world. Visits by small groups of up to ten people can be arranged by appointment.

The Central North Field Naturalists is a community group dedicated to the exploration and preservation of Tasmania’s natural environment. They have monthly field outings and publish The Natural News three times a year. New members are welcome.
Field Naturalists can be both amateurs and professionals who share a common interest in the natural world. The only requirement of members is an active interest in the natural world.
The Burnie Field Naturalist Club is a group of amateur field naturalists who like to explore Tasmania's landscape, flora and fauna. Meetings are on the second Friday of each month with a field trip on the following Sunday.
The North East Tasmania Field Naturalist Club conducts regular excursions to diverse places of interest to encourage the study and appreciation of the natural world and support its conservation.
The Launceston Field Naturalists Club aims to encourage the study of all aspects of natural history and to support the conservation of our natural heritage. Monthly meetings feature talks. Regular field trips study many aspects of natural history. Visitors are most welcome to attend meetings and field trips.
