Up-to-the-minute information about any bushfires in your area is available through ABC Local Radio.Be sure to have a battery-operated radio in case your area loses power, which often happens in a bushfire.

If you are looking for information about bushfires in other parts of Australia, you can use the “ABC Listen” smartphone app or the ABC website. Just search for the local radio station servicing the area where your loved ones live or are holidaying.

Many organisations are collecting money to help those who have lost loved ones or property in these unprecedented fires. You can also make donations to help those caring for injured wildlife and stock. Information on where and how to donate to bushfire relief appeals has been published by the Sydney Morning Herald, the ABC and news.com.au, among many others. However, do be aware that scammers are taking advantage of the bushfires to cold call people asking for money. Please visit the ACCC website for more information about avoiding scams if you have any concerns whatsoever.
