The Tasmanian Government, in partnership with Aspen Medical Group, is running COVID-19 vaccination clinics for people who may require additional support. The clinics are for people living with disability and/or mental illness, their carers, disability support workers, and people who have anxiety.
Tasmania has the oldest population in the country, with around 20 per cent of Tasmanian residents aged
65 or over. Despite this, there is currently no tailored mental health response for older Tasmanians.
The World Health Organization has released the first global report on Ageism. COTA Australia CEO Ian Yates says the report shows how pervasive ageism is in workplaces and health, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
